Chapter 4: Algebra: expressions and equations
Generating, representing and manipulating algebraic expressions, and solving the equations and inequalities that come from them.
The chapter problem
The break-even point. A small business has a fixed cost and a cost per item. You will build the expressions, solve for the point where the money in equals the money out, and by the end of the chapter say what happens either side of it.
Where it is used: Pricing, break-even, planning and any relationship you can write as a formula.
Your turn to connect it: Where would being able to write a relationship as a formula save you time?
